Yesterday was my last day in a long time at Grace Bible Church. GBC has been the church that I attended for the 6 months while I was here in America. It is the church that our teammates, (the Canns, the Lehmans, and the Dodds) are members of. It is a SUPER precious sending church of mine. Smedly Yates, through whom I heard about PNG when he visited South-Africa, is also an elder of this church.

This church LOVES Jesus! I thought about one song which I think resonates their hearts so well “Jesus, Jesus, how I love Thee, how I proved Him over and over. Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, Oh for grace to trust Him more” So thank you GBC, for loving Jesus, and for encouraging my heart to love Him more. Thank you for keeping Him first and foremost in your hearts (1 Cor 15:1-5) Thank you for every sweet Sunday where I could celebrate Him with you through communion.

This love for Jesus it witnessed through their love for one another. How privileged I was to have been thrown into this pool of brotherly affection! From showing hospitality, to being generous, giving gifts, writing cards, giving me rides, asking insightful questions, giving encouragement, praying, and you name it – before there was a need they stepped in to serve. Their kindness and care have been above and beyond what I could have expected to receive in my time here. God has been abundantly kind to me through them.

Because GBC understands God’s ultimate kindness in salvation, they have eagerly participated in the ministry to make the Gospel known in PNG. I take great joy in their desire to make Him known to the ends of the earth. Phil 1:3-6 – “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”

Thank you for living out 3 John 1:5-8 – “Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all of your EFFORTS for these brothers, strangers as they are, who testified to you LOVE before the churches. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God because they have gone out for the sake of the name, not accepting anything from the Gentiles. Therefore, we are to support men such as these, that we may be FELLOW WORKERS for the truth”

Grace Bible Church, thank you for being fellow workers for the truth, for loving the truth! Thank you for standing right beside us missionaries, with enthusiastic hearts fixed on the same goal – to declare His glory among the nations. Thank you for obeying the Lord by sending your missionaries off with such a love which we are not worthy to be sent. You love, because He first loved you, and I will be able to testify to your love wherever I go.
